Fence Warranties

Fence Warranties: Labor and Materials

Every fence we install comes with our 5-year labor warranty on the installation, and most materials carry a manufacturer’s warranty on top, up to a limited lifetime on single-family homes.

How Your Fence Is Covered

Two Warranties, Two Different Jobs

One covers how the fence was built. The other covers what it’s made of. Not sure which one applies? Call us first.

Our 5-Year Labor Warranty

Covers our installation work on every fence we build. You get the full written terms with your quote.

Manufacturer Material Warranty

Covers the fence material itself against manufacturing defects. The manufacturer sets the terms, from 20 years on ornamental steel to a limited lifetime on most of the vinyl and aluminum we install.

What Material Warranties Don’t Cover

Every manufacturer warranty here has exclusions. These are the ones that come up most in Central Florida.

Storms and hurricanes

Every manufacturer warranty here excludes hurricanes, floods, lightning and other acts of God. Storm damage is a homeowner’s insurance question.

Labor to remove and reinstall

Material warranties replace or refund the product. Taking out the old piece and putting in the new one isn’t included.

Heat warping

Vinyl can warp near grills and fire pits, or where sunlight bounces off windows. Homeland, J&M and Catalyst’s mixed-material warranty exclude it.

Mildew and weathering

Mildew, dirt and gradual fading are normal weathering, not defects. A hose and mild soap take care of most of it.

Animals and impact

Damage from animals, mowers, falling limbs and other impacts isn’t a material defect.

Paint and coatings

Painting or coating a vinyl fence voids the Homeland and J&M warranties.

Keep It Valid

Four Habits That Protect Your Warranty

Most denied claims come down to paperwork and timing, not the fence.

1

Day one

Keep your paperwork

Your invoice is your proof of purchase. On a wood fence, keep the plastic end tags too.

2

Within 30 days

Register on time

Most manufacturers want the warranty registered within 30 days of purchase or installation.

3

First 30 days

Look it over

Walk the fence after installation. Homeland asks you to report visible defects within 30 days.

4

As soon as you see it

Report problems fast

Catalyst and J&M want notice within 30 days of finding a defect. Call us and we’ll point you to the right claim.
